# Product Identification

Based on various identification data, a product can reliably be identified within the ERP system.

## Identification Data

* EAN/GTIN: Barcode data. (optional but present in 99% of retail use cases)
* Buyer part number: A product ID assigned by the buyer. (optional, used only if EAN/GTIN are not provided)
* Supplier part number: A product ID assigned by the supplier. (optional, used only if EAN/GTIN are not provided)

## Rules

1. Products must be uniquely identified. If multiple products within the ERP system match the provided identification data, an error must be reported to Procuros.
